Wildlife Trusts Wales represents the five Wildlife Trusts in Wales working together in partnership to protect wildlife. The Wildlife Trusts in Wales collectively speak on behalf of more than 24,000 members and manage over 200 nature reserves, covering more than 8,000 hectares of prime wildlife habitat, from rugged coastline to urban wildlife havens.

These undersea meadows are home to some amazing wildlife and store huge amounts of carbon making them a key natural solution to the climate crisis.

For over a decade, The Wildlife Trusts have campaigned with other environmental organisations in the UK for new laws to provide better protection for marine habitats and wildlife. As a result, the ground-breaking Marine and Coastal Access Act (Marine Act) was introduced in November 2009, providing UK Government with the tools needed to revolutionise the management of our marine environment. Wildlife Trusts Wales are calling for the Marine Act to be effectively implemented in Wales, and the opportunities provided by the Act seized to ensure real benefits for biodiversity around the Welsh coast.

These leafy, magical wonderlands provide solace, homes for wildlife and soak up carbon from the atmosphere making them an important natural solution to the climate crisis.
