We are in the middle of a climate and nature emergency, and the two are inextricably linked. Climate change is driving nature’s decline, and the loss of wildlife and wild places leaves us ill-equipped to reduce carbon emissions and adapt to change.

The Wildlife Trusts believe that development should not come at the expense of our natural environment. All development, be it housing, commercial or infrastructure must be designed and delivered in a way that contributes to nature’s recovery, not its decline.

The Wildlife Trusts work to bring wildlife back, tackle the climate and nature crises, and help everyone take meaningful action for nature.

Take on the Big Wild Walk for nature and climate in October

In October 2024, global governments will be coming together in Colombia to discuss the nature emergency. The conference, known as COP16, will review how well each country is doing against targets set in 2022 (at COP15 in Canada) to bring about nature's recovery by 2030.
