People's Postcode Lottery players support our wildlife projects!

Friday 5th June 2015

Between 6 and 12 June The Wildlife Trusts will be the focus of People’s Postcode Lottery’s ‘Charity of the Week’ celebrations.

Thanks to their incredibly generous support, players of People’s Postcode Lottery have supported educational programmes for school children, an osprey protection programme, county-wide otter surveys, funding of Rangers, volunteer support, public events and more.

Throughout this week, People’s Postcode Lottery’s will share our good news stories, photographs and film, forging an even firmer bond between players and the benefits they bring about for people and wildlife.

The six wildlife Trusts in Wales benefit hugely from this support from players which enables them to continue their vital conservation work to protect nature for the future. The Trusts have used the funding to deliver educational opportunities and events for local communities and schools, as well as maintaining nature reserves across the country.

BBC wildlife presenter and Wildlife Trusts Wales ambassador Dr Rhys Jones says:

“Thank you so much to players of People’s Postcode Lottery for supporting wildlife in Wales and helping the Wildlife Trusts to protect our natural world for the future.”

“The generosity from players of People’s Postcode Lottery has really helped us protect wildlife. Thanks to the funding,  staff in west Wales have been able to carry out a badger vaccination programme and in Welshpool we have been able to continue a project at a local nature reserve where people from all walks of life learn practical land management skills while gaining confidence and making friends.

“We’ve also been able to employ a marine awareness officer in north Wales who works with schools and local communities to teach them about marine wildlife."

Since 2008, The Wildlife Trusts have been generously supported by players of People’s Postcode Lottery, a charity lottery which supports a range of good causes. Players play with their postcodes to win cash prizes and for every £2 ticket bought, 55p goes directly to charities like us. To date funding received exceeds a staggering £5,200,000!
